Health

Children’s physical health is a major component of well-being from early life through to adolescence and is a key determinant of health status in later adult life. Having good physical health during childhood has been linked to higher levels of educational attainment and better employment and economic outcomes later in life; it also lays the foundation for greater psychological well-being and life satisfaction. By contrast, adverse health events during childhood can have long-lasting effects on later adult health and other key outcomes, such as employment status and earnings.
